1-1. What’s in the box?
1-2. What you need
To start using your LiveShell, the following conditions are required.
The Internet environment
- Ability to connect with Ustream Site
- No proxy setup required
- No web authentication required
PC, Mac or Smartphone

- Android 2.2 or later

Camcorder
A camcorder must have either of the following outputs.
- TV output via HDMI
- NTSC/PAL-compatible composite video-out output
Battery
Three AA batteries. We strongly recommend using rechargeable NiMH batteries.
Note: LiveShell cannot recharge batteries.

- The USB port is exclusive for attached wireless LAN adapter.
- The MIC IN pin has plug-in power.
- Line and composite video can be input into the AV IN through an RCA female pin by connecting the attached AV-IN cable.

1-4. Ustream Account Setup
Follow this setup guide if you do not have Ustream account.
If you do have one, you can skip this page and go directly to the next step: 2. Connect & Broadcast.
1. Access www.ustream.tv (the Ustream website).
2. Click on “Sign up” at top right.
3. Enter the required information and click on “Create My Account”.
4. Move the cursor over your username at top right and click on “Dashboard”.
5. Click on the yellow “Create a Channel” button.
6. Enter the name of your show (it does not matter what it is) and click on the yellow “Create” button.
7. Finish.
2-1. Cable Connection
Step 1: Power Source
- AC operation: Insert the AC adapter cable into the mini USB port on the rear side of the LiveShell.
- Battery operation: Insert three AA batteries in the battery compartment on the bottom side of the LiveShell.
Step 2: Camcorder
- HDMI Connection
- Connect the HDMI cable to your LiveShell.
- Broadcasting starts as soon as the setup is complete, so it is better not to connect a camcorder yet.
- AV cable connection: Make sure your are using the attached accessory AV-IN cable.
- Insert the jack into the AV IN connector on your LiveShell
- Connect the audio/video cables (red, white, and yellow) to your camcorder.
Step 3: Network Setup
- Proceed to 2-2a. Eathernet Cable Setup or 2-2b. Wireless LAN Setup.
2-2a. Ethernet Cable Setup
- Connect the LAN cable into the LiveShell ethernet port.
- Press the power button at top left for five seconds to power on the LiveShell.
- The language setup page is displayed on the screen.
Select the language using the left/right buttons on the bottom and click on the button in the top right corner to confirm your selection. - Remember the number displayed on the LiveShell display. You will need this number as a PIN when you connect your LiveShell via the Internet.
Note: The PIN in the image below is just only an example. The PIN displayed in your LiveShell will be different. - Proceed to 2-3. Dashboard Registration.
2-2b. Wireless LAN Setup
- Make sure the Wi-Fi adapter is connected to the LiveShell.
- Press the power button at top left for five seconds to power on the LiveShell.
- The language setup page is displayed on the screen.
Select a language using the left/right buttons on the bottom and click on the button at top right corner to confirm your selection. - The message “Register me at http://shell.cerevo.com” should appear on the display screen.
- Proceed to 2-3. Dashboard Registration.
2-3. Dashboard Registration
Registering on the Dashboard enables you to operate your LiveShell from your PC or smartphone as a remote control.
- Access http://shell.cerevo.com/.
- Click on “Join/Log-in”.
- Enter your email address and password, and click on “Create my account”.
Note: Facebook users can skip step 3 and 4 by clicking on the Facebook icon. - Check your email for an account sign-up confirmation from Cerevo.
- Click on the URL in the email from Cerevo and complete the Dashboard sign-up process.
- Complete the Dashboard registration process.
- Register your LiveShell in the Dashboard. Go to 2-2a. Ethernet Cable Connection or 2-2b. Wireless LAN Connection.
2-4a. Ustream Setup
- Select “Ustream” and click on “OK”.
- Input your Ustream username and password.
- Select a Ustream channel and select the Internet connection type.
- Ethernet: Enter the PIN that is displayed on the LiveShell display screen and click on “OK”.
- Wireless Step1: Enter the ESSID (wireless network name) and passphrase (Wi-Fi password).
Note: The ESSID and passphrase are case-sensitive.
- Wireless Step2: Connect the attached blue audio cable to the MIC IN on the LiveShell and the other end to the headphone jack as below.
Click on the “Play” icon to download the setting configuration.
Note: Close all audio and video applications before downloading the wireless LAN settings.
After transfer has succeeded, the page will automatically change to the Dashboard. Wait a moment.
If you cannot connect your network, make sure you are not using stealth mode or a static IP address, and that you have not entered the wrong information. - Your LiveShell will display the word “LIVE” and the Dashboard main panel will appear on your PC, Mac and/or Smartphone when broadcasting begins.
2-4b. Other broadcasting services Setup
- Select “Other broadcasting services” and click on “OK”.
- Enter the “Broadcasting RTMP URL” and “Stream” name, then click on “Save”.
“Browsing RTMP URL” is optional.
- Select the Internet connection type.
- Ethernet: Enter the PIN that is displayed on the LiveShell display screen and click on “OK”.
- Wireless Step1: Enter the ESSID (wireless network name) and passphrase (Wi-Fi password).
Note: The ESSID and passphrase are case-sensitive.
Use iOS Personal Hotspot
- Wireless Step2: Connect the attached blue audio cable to the MIC IN on the LiveShell and the other end to the headphone jack as below.
Click on the “Play” icon to download the setting configuration.
Note: Close all audio and video applications before downloading the wireless LAN settings.
After transfer has succeeded, the page will automatically change to the Dashboard. Wait a moment.
